Make your

work, flow

Humans are made to move but when it comes to our work how much of the day do we end up slumped over in one spot? We stretch when we’re uncomfortable and fidget when we’re bored but when it comes to our daily work routine we spend the majority of it static.

Breaking down your work day

By breaking down the work day you can see we simply don’t physically move that much during the day, the static tasks we undertake far outweigh the active ones. With the integration of digital work flows within the workplace, everything is focused and primed to increase productivity and yet its geared towards a static unhealthy lifestyle.

Getting active

Movement is crucial in order to allow your cardiovascular system to function, by moving around you assist your heart to move blood through the body. Without moving, we are adding extra strain to the heart throughout the day and increasing chances of serious medical issues down the line.

Getting active

Movement is crucial in order to allow your cardiovascular system to function, by moving around you assist your heart to move blood through the body. Without moving, we are adding extra strain to the heart throughout the day and increasing chances of serious medical issues down the line.

Made to move

Your heart’s biggest task is to provide pressure to your cardiovascular system in order to move blood around. So what happens when we prevent it from doing what it does best?

A healthy heart will beat 86,400 a day, or over 31 million beats a year in order to constantly move around 5 litres of blood

Muscles work like sponges, when they’re compressed/contracted, old blood (containing depleted cells) is forced out. When extended, they draw in fresh new blood into the system carrying nutrients

Muscle compression also affects neighbouring veins. By squeezing them together, it creates additional pressure which assists in pumping blood back to heart. The more we move, the less stress there is on your heart.

When we work at a desk without moving, we’re restricting blood flow to these muscles. Short term, this will result in constantly feeling uncomfortable, over time this can create problems such as carpal tunnel syndrome, and painful back/shoulder tendon damage

Having good supporting elements (chairs, arm rest or floor etc), means our muscles and skeleton have less work to do. However if our supporting elements don’t match our bodies, they’re not supporting anything

Healthy work spaces

What’s the solution

Standing all day is just as bad as sitting all day. People tend to take the path of least resistance. Any desk, even hybrid sit/stands*, remain in the same place throughout the day, which in turn keeps the user in the same place.

We aim to challenge this by introducing movement into our work flow and allowing an individual to move about the office with the option of sitting or standing depending on the task at hand.
